Welcome to SOSPT
Hi and Welcome to the SOSPT website. I am really excited by this new venture and have been amazed at the level of support that I have been given, both locally and nationally.
Although setting up a personal training company was new to me, personal fitness has played a huge part in my day to day life for as long as I can remember. I am glad that I am able to bring a wealth of knowledge, insight and encouragement to someone looking to improve or change their lifestyle.
Being part of my bootcamp is much more than just physical fitness, there are so many other reasons to come along:
- Meet new people
- Fell energised
- Learn new skills
- Kick bad habits
- Have fun !
So what are you waiting for, contact me here for details on the next course or sign up to our newsletter so you ‘ll always be in the know of what courses are on.
SOS Personal Training
Hey, my name is Seán O’Sullivan. I set up SOS personal training in September 2013. Why? Well, I know what it is like to come home drained and fall into a predictable rut. It’s not something I liked and it’s not something I like to see happening to others.
I have always known that my future lay in fitness, and in sport – that’s my background. I’ve spent my adult life trying to improve my own fitness (a life in the world of Kerry intercounty football fosters that yearning to be the best). This is why I have progressed my own career and I have become a personal trainer.
In the geographical area where I am working the outdoor bootcamps are a new phenomenon. The concept has worked excellently: people appreciate the outlet that they have never had or thought they would have. I love the outdoors anyway and the feedback from my clients is that they prefer it to a gym. That type of assurance from satisfied customers gives me a great buzz.
From the start of 2014 I will also be offering one-to-one personal training sessions, These can be either indoor or outdoor depending on the client’s preference.
Facilities
My 2013 bootcamps are being held, mainly, at the GAA grounds of my local club, Cromane GAA – and I thank them for allowing me to operate there.
I will also have the option during the spring/summer months of taking the bootcamps to some of the beautiful beaches of south Kerry: options include Cromane, Dooks or Rossbeigh.
The main benefit of working out on sand is that it makes the client work harder, given that there is more resistance in the surface as opposed to grass or indoors.
It’s outdoors (what could be better!), regardless of the elements it’s a great environment to sweat it out in and it’s also character-building. Some of the effort in the bootcamps has been phenomenal and I think being outdoors, sometimes challenged by Mother Nature, pushes people that bit further. To like the challenges and they rise to them: everyone’s a winner.
Bootcamp
My bootcamps are outdoors and include a mix of resistance training and cardio exercise. I use many different types of equipment such as kettlebells, dumbbells, firm and medicine balls.
For my cardio work I do exercises such as step aerobics, shuttle runs and ladders.
The resistance training includes squats, squat jumps, lunges and many more techniques.
The bootcamps operate for one hour and are set up as a circuit-based session with clients working together at various exercise stations.
Nutrition Advice
As part of my service, whether it be at group training or on a one-to-one basis, I offer advice on nutrition and diet. This advice can be for weight loss or eating correctly for exercise.
I know the value of proper nutrition from my 11 years as an inter-county footballer with the Kerry football team. I learned very quickly how crucial it is to have the fuel in the tank to perform better.
Nutrition is the link between what you eat and the energy that you have during the day. It is scientific but think about it: if you don’t put enough fuel in the fire then you are not going to have any energy to burn.
